Gardner
Cave, located near Metaline, is the third longest limestone cave
in Washington State. Like
caves of this type, there are a multitude of shapes, shadows and
textures... some would say "other-worldly"....and it's a
photographer's paradise. I prefer to shoot my images
without a flash...I don't like the very directional light one
gets.
Because visiting Gardner Cave requires a tour guide, you're limited in
the amount of time you can spend there, along with the challenge of
working around other people in confined spaces. To capture
the variety of subject
matter, multiple visits are necessary. And, oh, it's cold
down
there....a year-round temperature of
about 40 F degrees. For more info, go to the
State's link for Crawford State
Park. |
