Glass Art of Dale Chihuly
|
|
|
In
many circles, Dale
Chihuly is considered the most inventive glass sculptor in the history
of the medium. I
had heard of Chihuly's glass work for decades, but not experienced
it until I saw it on display at the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix,
in 2009. I arrived late in the afternoon to an impressive array of
glass art interspersed with the desert flora. But when the
sun went down, and the
displays were lighted, it became other worldly, and magical!
I have since visited the Museum of Glass, in his native Tacoma, and the
new Garden and Glass Museum at the Seattle Center. At present, Dale
Chihuly's art
is included in more than 200 museums worldwide. To

A
word about photography of other's art. I'm generally not a proponent of
doing so, but I'm not trying to create art
from the images of Chihuly's Glass Art. I am just trying to
share
my experience with his work, hoping you can enjoy it vicariously, or
perhaps motivate you to see his work when presented with the
opportunity. ENJOY! |
